Syrian Winter Blanket Drive

Syrian and Iraqi refugees will be a little warmer this winter thanks to a helping hand from Paxton volunteers and the communities in Northern Virginia. Individuals dropped blankets off throughout 30 collection sites around NOVA. These blankets along with money raised will assist refugees in Turkey who have fled violence in Syria and Iraq. This year 25,000 blankets or nearly 40,000 lbs of blankets were donated to the cause- this is a 25% increase over last year’s blanket drive! Paxton picked up and brought the blankets to the warehouse at the shipping yard in Norfolk, VA on December 10th where they were to be loaded on a Maersk freighter for delivery to Turkey. This year the blankets will fill (6) 40’ Steamship containers. Thank you for the outstanding work to everyone who supported the effort this year!
