40th Anniversary of Adams Morgan Day

Saturday, 08 September 2018

This year marked the 40th anniversary of Adams Morgan Day and Paxton was there to set the stage. Adams Morgan is a culturally and historically rich neighborhood in the center of our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., known also for its vibrant nightlife and shops. The neighborhood has a long history of activism amidst political charged times; standing as a pillar for social justice, inclusive values and progress.

As a 4th generation family run moving business operating in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for nearly 100 years, we consider ourselves to be a part of this great community and seek out ways to continue to be involved and opportunities to give back. The festival of Adams Morgan day reflects the neighborhood as a cultural crossroads featuring walking tours, poetry, storytelling, dancers and drummers emphasizing Latino heritage and the history of the neighborhood. It’s an upbeat celebratory day full of fun, lots of people, loud music, vibrant colors and delicious food! Great institutions including the DC Public Library and Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage partnered with D.C. based music businesses Songbyrd Music House and Multiflora Productions to bring a global soundtrack to the festival.

On the day of the event Paxton’s logistic teams moved and set in place the stages for bands and performers as well as those that facilitated security and capacity control. At Paxton we embrace the many great opportunities to take part in culturally and historically significant moments such as this even though the weather was a bit rainy at first, we were delighted to have the opportunity to truly set the stage for the festival in which a very fun musical time was had by all.
