Wisconsin Employee Relocation Council (WERC) Meeting

Monday, 28 July 2014

It was a beautiful day for a ball game at Miller Park in Milwaukee last Wednesday. But before watching the Brewers face off against the Cincinnati Reds, WERC hosted a well attended and informative relocation meeting. Included in the line up was Tim Sheehy, President of Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce and our own Freddy Paxton. Tim did a fantastic job of laying the foundation for what Milwaukee needs to do to support their local businesses in the war for talent. He was both engaging and insightful and the audience lobbed many questions at him when it was over. Freddy was next in the lineup after he literally traveled on planes, ferries and in automobiles to get to Milwaukee from Bald Head Island, North Carolina where he was vacationing. Freddy’s presentation included a comprehensive history of the moving industry and the benefits of the FIDI/FAIM organization and designations. What was especially fascinating was the live vessel and airplane tracking he shared which showed the global movement of vessels over the course of 7 days and airlines over a 24 period. It’s hard to understand the shear largeness of the transportation industry until you see something like that. As always, Freddy left the audience excited about shipping and jetting back to his exotic destination. And the Brewers beat the Reds 5-1!
