Walk for Wishes

Thursday, 22 May 2014

On May 3rd, 2014 The Paxton RVA office sponsored the First Annual Walk for Wishes of Greater Virginia. The Make a Wish foundation is dear to Abigail Quinn, our fabulous sales executive. She invited me to join her at the initial breakfast meeting to prepare for this walk. After the breakfast, I eagerly accepted Paxton RVA to help sponsor this wonderful cause and for members of our Team to join in on the Walk.

The Make a Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions in the United States on average 38 minutes. For the First Annual Walk for Wishes, Greater Virginia raised $90,496. That is enough money to grant 12 wishes to children in Central Virginia! There are currently 218 kids in Virginia waiting for their wish to be granted. Over 350 people walked to celebrate the hope, joy, and strength of Make a Wish experience.

The walk was a non competitive walk around the lake. Of those 350 individuals we had 7 Paxton Team members volunteering, participating, and supporting the event. While there, a young teen boy, with a life threatening condition was granted his wish. He was 13 years old with cerebral palsy. Make a Wish is sending him and his family on a week long RV trip to Disney World in June.

I am proud to have painted the First Annual Make-A-Wish Greater VA Walk for Wishes Paxton Blue and helped an incredible organization raise much needed funds and awareness!
